I too have seen them in tree's, but never actually watched them climb. We have some land and a cabin about 12 miles from where we live and frequent it often for cook outs etc. My aunt has a small piece of property less than a mile away where she and my mother grew up. As a boy I can remember she had a dog that loved to pick on groundhogs. I assume he would sneak between them and their holes and they would climb a tree as the dog sat and barked at them until someone went and got him. I also look forward to Spring its a refreshing time of yr here in the mountains of Va. As for the birds we very much enjoy feeding them all, but most of all is the flock of Humming birds that seem to grow bigger each yr. I love to watch them eat. Keep looking forward to Spring!

You should search before asking.
