continents
The large parts of the surface of the Earth that rise above sea level. The seven major continents are Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America.
Continents are made from the lightest rocks in the Earth. Some of these are also the oldest known rocks on Earth, with an age of 3.5 billion years, measured by radioactive dating.
According to the theory of plate tectonics, continents move along piggy-back on the tectonic plates like rafts floating on water.

A continent is a LARGE piece of land generally surrounded by sea on most (if not all sides). The continents are:
1.Asia
2.Europe (Europe and Asia are sometimes referred to as Eurasia)
3.Africa
4.Australia (which is both a country and along with New Zealand, a continent)
5.North America
6.South America (North and South Americas are a single piece of land) and
7.Antarctica.
It should be noted that all the known continents are constantly drifting, and were long back at different positions than the current ones (tectonic shift).
