I've never tried using it through 360, but if it's not working just go to your messenger under Actions and choose Send Instant Message. You can type in the user name manually.

why be haunted by loneliness? Why let your melancholy assumptions consume you? your life...the way u live...you design it, you navigate it. U must enjoy the unnecessary necessities of being uninhibited. I apologize for not having any info on IM's through 360's. your despair grabbed me.
