Study anybody in the Bush administration for excellent examples of accomplished liars.
Anyways, political jokes aside, I don't believe that body language is always a good indicator that someone is lying. For example, someone mentioned that no eye contact is an indicator. I don't believe that is necessarily true. Some people are simply shy and generally don't make eye contact with people. I know from my own experience that I become very very nervous if someone thinks I am being dishonest. I am very perceptive to people's emotions and just the thought of someone thinking I am lying makes me uncomfortable to the extent that I panic. This panic would make a lie detector machine go crazy. Does that mean I am lying? No. It just means I am overly sensitive. I think the only way to detect a lie is to listen carefully to what someone says and note any inconsistencies in what they say.

I heard its got something to do with where the eyes roll to when your talking to someone. For instance, when you think you use the logical or creative side of your brain. One side of your brain is creativity, the other logic. When you lie your eyes will look up towards one side more than the other which means your using your creativity to speak, meaning you could be lying.

If they won't look you in the eye when answering your questions or avoid answering them. Also when they look around & probably might be fidgeting is a pretty good indicator someone's lying to you.

Body language. If a person holds their hand near their mouth, they are lying. If they move uncomfortably while telling you something they are lying.

when they can't look you in the eyes...try observing their body language as well..if they look reluctant or a little uneasy then maybe they're not telling you the truth...but then, there are people who are very good liers...
