if someone farts and you're not around, is there a smell? uh yes, that's what it does. just because no one is around doesn't mean things don't occur naturally.

it would only make a sound if there was a living creature nearby that could hear it sound is relative i am sure right now as i am typing there is the possibility that there is noise happening that i cannot percieve or hear in another layer of the universe

Yes and no, because sound is what you hear..and if no one can hear it does not make a sound. Yes, because it will make a frequency wave not exactly making a sound but it is in a scientific way.

Sound is nothing but vibrations in the air until an animal or human hears it and recognizes it and assigns it meaning. Vibrations would be there, but no sound.

Definately, the sound is still made and since their is bacteria and organisms everywhere - they will definitely feel the effect of the sound or vibration.
