There were no WMDs, there were no terrorists in Iraq. There are NOW. The gas was less than a dollar a gallon, there was more electricity, the oil exports were higher, they had jobs.
The biggest deal to me however is that this nation, for no good reason, invaded and overthrew a legitimate government for no good reason. We have had 2500 die. How many Iraqi's have died? No one knows! Who were they bothering before we invaded? Why are they branded terrorists? They feel they are defending their country. How many of us wouldn't do the same things they are? Hell no they are no better off.

If you believe 200,000 Kurds in northern Iraq wiped off the face of the Earth constitutes a healthy government, then NO Iraq is not better off. If you only listen to the news and believe there are only IED's killing American troops then NO. On the other hand, if you do your research and really know what is going on in that country than YES. It is up to what you think is important. I remember my Grandfather fought the Japanese in the 40's and hated them. I was stationed in Japan for 4 years as a U.S. Marine, and to me it was awesome to see a culture do a 180 on their feelings for us. You must be patient, not every war can be as quick and decisive as the first Gulf War. Right now Japan is are Aly in Iraq. When I am a Grandfather, Iraq will be with us fighting some one else (Iran or North Korea). Be patient those brave men and women did not die in vein.....

Worse off - Saddam was a tyrant, but atleast Iraq was secular, America wants to segregate the districts by religion - a nice and easy way to start up a lot of civil war. Oops - they already have. Supporting the Troops is supporting the war.

the iraqi peoples lives suck now! at least under sadam they had some sense of stability.
to the answerer above me: yeah, they get to have a say but they will get assasinated the night after they say it. lets see... how many elections have we had since the war started 3 years ago? too many to count. this is free speech. this is democracy. right. each new leader that is elected is weak and bows to both sides all the people that could actually do something are being killed by the opposite side.
this is not democratic state, its a state of civil war.

I do. See these people now have a say in their government. they now have a vote in who is elected. Saddam won his elections because he was the only person running. They can now speak their mind about their government and have a chnace to do something about it if they want. Before if the Iraqi people were heard bad mouthing that fine upstanding leader that Saddam was they were thrown in jail for it or possibly killed. Let along if they tried to assasinate the bastard. Well we are all seeing whats happening because of that. Yes the Iraqi people are better off.

If you are looking at it idealistically, then you see that no longer being ruled by Saddam Hussein is a good thing. But looking at it pragmatically, the average Iraqi would probably never be victimized by Saddam, or it would be a once in a lifetime event. Whereas chaos and violence, lack of water sewer electric ... these are things the average Iraqi is dealing with every day.

Iraq is a hell now at least earlier some people in Iraq were fine... now nobody is safe now and no dignified life either... u r treated like dogs by the occupation force while they show democracy on the media!
US has fostered fundamentalism in Iraq and people are divided on communal lines... US is creating breeding grounds for fanatic terrorists and then setting out to hunt them down.
