YES--legalize it. Then regulate it and tax it.
The Dutch and Germans have been doing that for years. If it is controlled and the "care givers" are given regular medical exams and require the use of a condom then it will be safe and legal. This would take the drugs out of it, and cut back on women sold into slavery to be prostitutes—because vice cops can chase them instead of those who are just making a finical transaction.
It is legal in Nevada, and when the I.R.S. foreclosed on a house of prostitution the US Government was running one.
The Puritan ethic in America will probably prevent it from ever happening though. (Libertarians are the political party that would like to legalize prostitution.)

Legalise it because the government should have no say in what people freely do with their own bodies. For some people, it may be the only way they can make a living (sad as that is), so they should not be harrassed or persecuted just for trying to get by. When police waste time prosecuting victimless crimes, real crimes go unpunished.

No legalization or illegalization required.
Let the prostitutes have their uninterfered rights to run the OLDEST Profession.
The world / society can't revolve round its axis without prostitution.

The politically correct term for prostitute is "Morally challenged free-lance entertainer" ;)
Yes, of course it should be legal, for reasons stated above.

Might as well legalize it, make sure the prostitutes are healthy and collect income tax from them.

I think that since it's illegal and people do it any way, they should legalize it on the condition that they are required to have tests done and have a clean bill of health on STD's, and they should be of consenting age.

Even if it were legal everywhere, I would think there would still be the illeagal versions. I am for leagalizing it, but I dont think it would stop the bad ones,
