elizabeth hurley said that she would kill herself (metaphorically) if she ever got as fat as marilyn monroe, who was a true beauty, and looked far more healthy than her, do you think that she is sending out the right message to young girls?

Elizabeth hurley is famous for wearing a dress, shes trying to get noticed again by saying stupid things (as usual). Marilyn is a legend who died over 40 years ago everyone knows of her. Whose going to remember ms hurley.

Well, no, she isn't sending out the correct message as she is focusing solely upon image.
While everyone knows that it's healthier for the human body to not be overweight by a lot, we also now know that it's not healthy to be underweight by a lot either.
While I personally can care less what Ms. Hurley says, as I am not a young girl, and I don't personally know Ms. Hurley, I do think that she has a certain responsibility as a celebrity who has the ability to reach the masses.
The end responsibility for what each of us does lies with us personally, but it's too bad that she is leaving this sort of image for those who might be impressionable and who might take her words to light.
While I am not really woman oriented, I do find that the more beautiful women (in my most humble opinion) are the ones that are a bit more fleshy. Maybe it's just that all of the women that I know who are a bit on the unskinny side appear to be the nicest and typically the smartest.
Hope that this helps.
Love as always,
Sebastian

Yes she is sending the wrong message (or actually just reinforcing the message being blared by TV and Media). Ms. Hurley is just being consistent with what everything that is implied when these impossibly beautiful images are flashed across TVs, the Web, and in magazines. Name a fat, female star or model that everyone loves and considered "beautiful"? Can't do it because larger women are portrayed as either pathetic (Kirsty Alley) or tough-as-a-guy (Camryn Manheim).
I feel sorry for my young daughter that she will have these impossible expectations of beauty to live up to. Although she is gorgeous for her age, chances are, she'll never look like a super model or an actress. So society will simply label her less than beautiful, and she'll always have that nagging feeling of doubt about her appearance, no matter what her mother and I tell her.

Elizabeth Hurley is not fit to wipe the beautiful shoes of Marilyn Monroe, who was, in my humble opinion, one of the most beautiful women who ever lived. Beauty and fashion was different then - women were more curvy and by today's standards, yes, Marilyn was probably slightly overweight. But there's no denying she looks a million per cent better than that scrawny cow, and she could act her off the planet too!

Liz looks great but she is not much a thinker and I'm sure the average young girl actually has enough brains to work it out for herself. We really do young people a disservice by assuming they even register what the likes of Liz Hurley says.
I doubt Marylin would have made it had she been as thin as Liz. Liz has never made it, she is only famous for being the girlfriend of a famous guy. A role that enabled her one evening to wear a fantastic dress that someone else designed. A role which later caused her pain and embarrassment. It's not like she is Madonna or some other legitimate teen role model.

Liz Hurley looks good for her age but she is an example of an English fool as well her ex lover Hugh Grant who is even more daft than her.
Marilyn Monroe was a size 14 (UK size, US 12?) I think, so in today's society, that is considered large.
But I don't think many young girls take much notice of Liz Hurley to be honest.

Absolutely not. Elizabeth Hurley looks sickly, it's repulsive. Besides, Marilyn Monroe wasn't fat. She wasn't even chubby. She just wasn't a skeleton. What young girl would look up to Elizabeth Hurley anyway? She's like 50 right? Oh wait, she just looks it.

No i don't, and it also proves she knows nothing about Marilyn Monroe, who, although her dress label was a size 14 or thereabouts was actually equivalent to about a British size 8-10.
Sizings have got bigger over the years to cater to our vanity. I saw an exhibition of some of Marilyns dresses on TV and they were tiny. (Marilyns stats: 36-24-34 to 38-23-36. (bust-waist-hips). Marilyn was 5' 5 and 1/2" tall and weighed 117 pounds when she died) Fat eh?
Plus, she was obviously as fit as a fiddle as anyone who has seen her sing and dance on musicals would attest.
So does Liz think anyone over a size 10 should kill themselves too? I thought she was alright until that comment; now i wish she would take her cabbage soup diet and p*** off...!

I think she looked much better when she was younger and plumper. She has said stupid things before, about diet, hasn't she? But what else has she done lately?.....Maybe this is her way of getting into the papers. Marilyn Monroe was a beautiful sexy lady who was, and still is, an international icon (all size 14/16 of her). I wish young girls could aspire to that these days.

Marilyn Munroe was not fat, just fuller figured.
I would be happier to be her shape that a stick insect like Ms Hurley - who incidentally is only famous because when she was plumper she squeezed herself into the safety-pin dress. She is not a good actress.
I think a lot of actresses nowadays need to have a good feed & stop looking like you would cut yourself to ribbons on their bones if you hugged them.
