Women have less upper arm strength so push-ups would be the best. Also leg lifts to address cellulite and and an overly endowed rear end. Men usually have to fight the growing belly so sit-ups are best for them.

Of course you need a well-rounded exercise program, and you need to vary your exercises to address the entire body. You also should vary your exercises from aerobic, like running, to anaerobic, like swimming; and from strength training to endurance training.

Go to a gym and ask a personal instructor to suggest a good exercise routine you can do at home.

push ups, pull ups, chair dips, crunches, and squats/lunges. for cardio jumping rope/jumping jacks.
push ups work the chest, back and arms
pull ups work the back and arms
dips work the shoulders and triceps
crunches work the abs
squats/lunges work the legs
thats a full body workout!
