Mainly because of all the additional variables involved in global logistics. Whenever you transport something over a border you have to consider the legal, political and social environment of the country involved.
Also, because of the distances involved tracking and control becomes more difficult. For example, ships can run into delays because of bad weather.

Well aside from the obvious fact that you're dealing with a lot more terrain, people, distance, objects, monetary values etc. Global Logistics actually includes domestic logistics. So it's like domestic logistics x 12!

With Domestic Logistics, you only have to worry about getting it to the right spot within your home country...................... with global logistics, you've got to worry about getting it to the right spot in a MUCH larger area, and have border controls to contend with.
