I just did the same thing for my pool...and yes sand is great to use because it is easy to level...with a round pool you want to find the center of the yard where to pool is going to be....place a stake in the center point and tie a string to it....at any local hardware store you can find what is called a line level...they cost around 3 dollars for a package of 2 ...a line level simply snaps onto your line and show you if your line is level or not....with a 14 foot pool you would want your line to be around 8 foot long from the stake...at the opposite end of the string tie on a second stake....now you can walk around and find your high point in the yard...that is where you want to start...its the place that will not need any sand....now you want to slowly work your way around the circle with your line level and fill in with sand until the ground is level with the high point of your yard...it is best to place retaining wall blocks around the edge and place landscaping cloth inside them to keep the sand from being washed away...these items are available at most local hardware stores...sand works great...and it is soft for the bottom of the pool so there should never be any holes poked throught the bottom....you might not get the same if you used just dirt...

3-4 inches of sand is recommended by pool installers. This allows for a soft bottom in the pool and prevents bottom rot by decomposition. Pavers should do the job and I concur that you should make sure posts are level and ground below is packed solid to prevent sinking. Plastic below sand would help prevent tearing of liner, but since you are past that point, just be sure to use sufficient sand. The rougher the ground the more sand will compensate. Enjoy the summer!

Lots of sand..... obviously
Stakes, String, 2 x 4
Pound stakes into the ground. Tie string to the LEVEL you want you sand for the pool to be. POUR sand onto the ground. TAKE 2 x 4 and GRATE the sand to the level of the STRING you have set as your SAND LEVEL.

yes depending on how much you have to fill in in the area your putting the pool.take a steak and drive it in the center of where your pool will be. next tie a string 7 foot long on the steak .this will give you the radius u need now if you went to your local hardware store and bought a line level (cheap) and attached it to your string it would show you exactly how much sand to put in any area just by walking the circle with your string (keeping it tight as you walk of coase)
