Mors means death in Latin
est mihi again latin meaning is my or could mean or just stand for "is" depending on how you want to translate it.
Vita is Life

It could say Death is my life or Death is Life which I believe sounds more apropriate than the first saying.

Death is Life, Life is Death. I actually think it's a good way to see life and death as being one in the same. In order to live, you must die yet in order to die you must first live.

Course that's my thinking on this phrase.

This is common on Christian graves because when a Believer in JESUS passes from life to death they have a better life in eternity. It is not the end for them, it is a new beautiful beginning in Heaven with the LORD for all eternity where newness of life is received.
