My dad is 6'2" my mom is 5'1" why am I 5'8"? I just turned 20 and I am not as tall as I hoped...can some one explain why I wasn't even 5'9" or 5'10" etc. I am really sad about this guys.

Accept yourself you cant change it.....you cant have everything that you want....you cant change your genes...hating your height means hating your genes...which means hating the ones who made you...+more importantly hating yourself ...4 no reason

Well, well, aren't we all a slave to our own genes? You just have to accept the fact that maybe you're destined to be like this. I'm quite short myself... (5' 8" too). However, if you desperately want to be taller, try jumping a hundred times a day. The next month, do 150. Aside from growing taller, cardiovascular activity also increases. Try it out! A few of my friends tried it, and they grew 4 inches in the next 6 months.

Men can keep growing until around 21, but genetics are funny. My dad is 6'0" and my mom is 5'9" and I am 5'3" and my sister is 5'0". My great uncle was the only short one in my family at 4'9" and I blame him. I am a 27 yo female. BTW, count your blessings, my husband is 5'5", our sons are DOOMED unless they get some of tall genes from my father's side of the family.

I believe that men always grow taller than their mothers. Tall men are often attracted to short women (because it evens out the gene pool). You are middle ground. You could still grow but even if you don't, don't worry about your height, it has nothing to do with your attractiveness, don't let it define you. I had a boyfriend the same height as me and at 5'6" he was the sexiest man I ever dated.

Don't worry about it. My mom is 5'2 and my dad was 5'7. I'm 6'2.
