I am 17 years old and this is my first time traveling without my parents and by myself and i am going to tokyo. I need help because they are making me pack my things on my own, so can someone please tell me what are the usual things i would need for traveling? i already packed all my clothes and restroom things, what else do i need that i forgot?

mp3 player
books/magazines
guidebook
japanese phrase book (though you'll find most signs are in English, and most of the people you'll run into speak English)
some sort of guide to Japanese customs
address book
camera
notepad
lightweight sandals
kleenex
I know you said you packed your clothes, but be sure to have lots of nice socks; you'll be removing your shoes a lot.
The voltage there is 100 (ours is 110), so your electric stuff should work fine.
Some sort of collapsible bag that can be zipped up and checked for your return flight, if you wind up buying stuff there that doesn't fit in your bag.
Have a great trip!

I would add things like photos of your friends or school mates or any photos that they would love to see in tokyo.. photos that are very interesting for them to learn about you, because when you gets there, a little time would not be enough to know you more especially when you will meet lots of friends.. like photos of your pets too, so they would know you are a pet lover or something that would start knowing you.. as you can see, if you don't speak much Japanese, a picture tells a thousand words.. I do bring photos anywhere if I travel from my own country and places I did visit.
well I am going there too,,, I am starting to pack things,
and hope you have a good time with your family..

♡Make your list and check it twice to make sure you haven't forgotten anything you'll need. Got your passport, tickets, itinerary, contact numbers and everything? Have your travelers checks and money (yen) ready? Reading material or music source for the long flight? Any medicine you need or take? (In it's original bottles/packets. Some US meds are not available here. Vicks, Tylenol, Bufferin...are!) Two pairs of comfortable shoes, just in case. ☆Do you have handkerchiefs (and mini towels) to carry in your bag for the HOT and HUMID weather and sometimes for drying your hands in restrooms? (You can get those here too.) Any reference books or personal reading material, in English, you'll need in Japan? They're expensive here. Have your camera, camcorder, film... ready? A converter if you'll be using electronics... You could bring a little of your favorite snack from home, for example licorice, which is a little hard to find here.(*^o^*) Hope you'll have a great trip and enjoy Japan!♡BTW, you don't say if you'll be staying with a Japanese family or not, but if you are, a little something, "gift", from your hometown or country, for them, would be really nice!

Many stores in Japan, especially those outside of the typical tourist track do not accept US Debit or Credit cards. Even the ATM machines outside of the tourist zones don't work with US Debit or Credit cards.
Always bring enough cash to exchange for Japanese yen. Change your money at the Narita airport.

If you're leaving today, in addition to all those other useful things, please remember that
IT'S THE RAINY SEASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It doesn't rain ALL the time, but it can be very heavy!! You can always buy a cheap umbrella from a 100円 shop like Daiso, or if you prefer your own fold-up umbrella bring it!!
Whatever you do, make sure you've got water-resistant footwear! Some of those puddles get right inside your shoes, and they're too big to step around!!!

Just think of the things you use everyday, and pack those. You might want to check online to see if their amps are the same as ours. I know in Europe, their electric outlets are different than ours. Is there someone you can ask about that? I don't know about Tokyo.

One important thing is to pack light.
There isn't always elevator or escalator in Japan. If you have large lagguage, you may have hard time getting up or down to the train station platform, which you will use.

Its gonna be damn hot pretty quick so bring some t-shirts and shorts. Also stalk up on deodorant because Japan only sells the cheap stuff in a can.
