Monitor what they see on the internet until you feel they are old enough to be unsupervised. Might be age 17 or 21 or 35. Depends on your children. Some children are very trustworthy and fairly mature and some are easily swayed by others.

Do not allow children to have their own computer in a private place. It need to be in a public part of the house. Like a livingroom, den or even the kitchen. You dont have to sit next to them while they are on it... but they are not allowed to tab-out while on it (as when you walk by).

Also install blocks that are age appropriate.

And check the computer history of where they have been.

That all depends on the child. Some are mature and won't care, some are not and wanna see, and some(like myself) are mature and wanna see. But seriously, you'll never know until they face the "bad" in the internet, because until then they won't have experienced it. Also, don't be too hard on your kids, because it won't work. If we want something enough, we get it. parental controls, filters, computer history; none of this matters because there are all ways on the internet on how to beat them. I'm sure a kid could come hear and ask "How can I get past the parental controls on the computer?" and they will get an answer. trust me.

This should be up to the parents. They can install filters on the computers, limit internet usage, monitor the sites their children have gone to and find certain words in e-mails or chat rooms the teens have used or been exposed to.It needs to be made clear to children and teens that there chat habbits, searches, emails etc are being monitored and let them know that if there is something private that they do not want the parents to find know about ,then they need to keep it off th internet.Rules need to be made as soon as a parent gives a child access to a computer.

The best way to protect any age child is to teach them morals from the start. If they know right from wrong and have some common sense the bad influences shouldn't affect them.

the best way to protect teens is to let them know what actually is "bad" on the internet and in doing so .totally kill their curiosity about that subject....
you also let them know the negetive aspects about it ....and also about the consequences of the same
when there is no curiosity and they know the consequences..why will they go there?

they must have the sense of choosing good from bad(selective talent) they must have a strong will that depends on how they were brought up...and what's their back ground...parents must watch teens from time to time..without making teens alarmed..they must treat teens as friends because they r no longer kids

Keep a good watch over them by monitering what they are doing. Set up time limits. Do not allow the computer in their bedrooms.
