That's the only one you can do that with, 8+8+8. If you have to use three single identical digits, and you try any others you'll be out of luck. You've pretty much already figured that one out. ;)

Can it be
3^3 - 3
= 27 -3
=24 ?
Modify : And ppl, he asked for identical digits! 6 and 9 are not exactly identical if you look closely.
