You can't get pregnant while on the pill during your period, but its ALWAYS a good idea to use condoms as a back up protection to prevent STDs and any error by you missing a pill. You will also need a backup method during the first 30 days you start the pill.

Once you are on the pill, the period you have is not a 'normal' period, simply because you don't ovulate (release an egg for making babies).
Even if you were not on the pill, your period is the least likely time of your cycle for you to get pregnant, although it can happen..
So don't worry,2 strong reasons not to be pregnant already:
-pills and period
Please use a condom to protect yourself from disease during sex, especially during your period when your inner surfaces are shedding-

You don't need protection from pregency when taking the pill, even during your period. As long as you don't miss any pills you will be fine. You should read the instructions that come with the pills or ask your doctor to make sure you are taking them correctly.

It's extremely unlikely to get pregnant while on your period. There too much running out to let anything in. Get my drift? Besides, don't you know that you are more likely to contract uterine infections if you have intercourse while on the rag? Your protective cervix is open during your period and there is nothing to protect you uterus from outside bacteria.

if ur on the pill & have taken it correctly then u shudnt need other precautions - the pill is about 95% effective, but u must take it correctly!use condoms 2 though as this will prevent any pregnancy, as nething that cud stop ur body absorbing the pill (eg.stomach upset) will mean ur not covered.
most pills - if u take on the 1st day of ur period ur automatially protected

The idea of using the pill is it stops you getting pregnant (if taken correctly!) whatever the time of the month. But, if youre in a new relationship or dont know your partner well (ie their sexual history) condoms are always a good bonus, just to make doubly sure you dont get anything unwanted. Have fun! ;O)

Biologically, you don't need to at all as you cannot get pregnant during your period. The period is the discahrge of the mature egg and the thickening of the uterus that occured during ovulation. Expelling what you you need to get pregnant in the first place....Speak to your GYN they should tell you the same thing

You can get pregnant anytime you are on the pill. Use protection at all times. Your dose of the "pill" could be too low, causing you to get pg. =o)
