Irishman in Italy here. Lived and worked in over 40 countries. I'd say Switzerland, but very hard to get a permit to live there. Australia is great, but a bit culturally 'absent'. After that, maybe Thailand. Or, if you can tolerate the lack of light, Sweden, Norway, Finland.
I've lived in the US too...very very beautiful country, and good people...but the best? No, I'd say it isn't. Only jingoists and those who have not traveled a lot would say that. Too many people obsessed with themselves and celebrity and the ownership of things in place of speaking to their neighbours.
I have been in India too...twice. No. Any place where the sky breaks in two for three months a year and the end of the world falls from it, and where the ground can split beneath your feet is not a good place to be.
But, it all depends on what you think makes a good country.

"The best country in the world to live in"
CANADA
A country larger than the USA, immediately to the north of it with incredible resources, and a system of excellent health and social services, an open democratic and progressive society where newcomers are welcome to share in the country's prosperity and community life and are invited after 3-4 years to become Canadian citizens, equal with all other Canadians. Where the virtues of tolerance and social harmony between races and national backgrounds allows freedom for all to maintain their ethnic and cultural heritage, yet participating freely in the Canadian economy. As a result large communities of similar ethnic backgrounds exist. In the immediate vicinity of Toronto alone there are more than 100,000 Farsi speaking inhabitants and more than 10 Iranian newspapers are published here. There are about 50 mosques (2 Iranian) and more than 300 Iranian stores and restaurants.
To benefit from this environment, a newcomer must bring the trade or skill which this country needs, or alternatively some kind of business experience with some capital to become part of the business community. The immigrants in this country have a history of enriching the economic and social climate with their hard work and skills.
So if you are wishing for a carefree and enjoyable future for yourself and your children, and to enjoy in a congenial environment an opportunity to give your children good schooling and a good education, and at the same time improving your career prospects, you may consider to emigrate to Canada.
In short, this is a country for the open minded and for hard working professionals, tradesmen, skillful workers, and businessmen.
Humanitarian and compassionate reasons are considered important here and so families are given an opportunity to re-unite. A strong program of family sponsorship allows parents, grand-parents, children under 19 and husbands and wives to be re-united.

India is the best country to live in. It has a glorious past, it is blessed with so many natural resources and magnificent tourist places. It is the combination of west as well as east. You get all the amenities of the west at the same time it has roots with the tradition.
Standard of living is quite cheap visa-vis other developed countries. You get servants for doing household work. Salary to be given to employees are quite law. You get variety of food, international chains for designer clothing, latest health clubs and discotheques. the list seems to be unending.... Shift to India and if you want any assistance then contact me I shall help you to settle smoothly. India will exceed all your expectations.... Good Luck & Cheers !

I've visited 22 countries and lived in three - my choice would be The Netherlands. Holland has a great health care and educational system, low crime, and excellent cultural destinations. The Dutch are tolerant, practical, and moderate people, and very environmentally and globally aware.

Europe. Particularly if you want freedom of opportunity, education, health care, lower infant mortality rates, longer life expectancy, lower military budgets and less graft, more religious freedom and more variety of religions, less pollution. a government that measures success in terms of quality of life and deliberately establishes policies to enhance quality of life.
I would move there but I don't speak European.
Wait a minute, breaking news, the universal language is becoming English.
Naaah I wouldn't move there, this is home, but I would like our government ot adopt some European-like policies.
