The price of freedom is eternal vigilance - and we are seeing that very clearly today. Voter turn out in Presidential elections hover at just over 50% of all eligible voters, and has for some time. That is part of the work we are supposed to be doing, part of the vigilance required to keep your country the way you want it - the way that you have the most freedom.

America is government by the people, for the people - it is our responsibility to participate. A good representative wants to accurately reflect the views of those who voted for him - so as issues present themselves, he should be keeping track of how his people are feeling (80% for? 50-50?) and the only way he will know is if we tell him.

In fact, I don't think his opinion on the matter even counts, except for his 1 vote in the community, unless it is a tie or close to a 50-50 split. Then I could see how his experience and expertise might come in handy - but really, he is supposed to be presenting our opinions to the federal government. He should certainly make every attempt to explain the issue clearly to the constituents and present his learned opinion, perhaps - but ultimately he is supposed to be our voice in DC. He can only be that if we tell him what we want him to say.

we have the POWER or may i say the PRIVILEGE of voting. if we give up that right then we would be building a strong central government and we dont want that, we like tomas jefferson have to watch for ourselves and at least give some power to the people and the states!!!! voting or choosing the president is a POWER not a JOB!!!!
