My children are grown and all past child support paid. My ex-wife has an alimony order that I can't pay. The state of Maine is trying to collect under the department of child support enforcement. I owe the alimony but not child support and my kids are 23 and 25. There was an order for child support for the youngest and it was paid in full. The last child only lived with her for 3 months, then the childsupport order stopped.

They're not saying it's child support. You obviously agreed to the alimony payments in the divorce decree, and you are liable for them. The child support enforcement division has jurisdiction over all support payments. She has a right to enforce the tenets of the settlement agreement. If your financial status has changed, you can petition the court to revise.

i imagine that is ridiculous at the same time as this happens and that i do not comprehend how the guy is meant to pay his infant help if he's sitting behind bars? perchance throw him in there for a week to expose him a lesson, yet then launch him to three paintings software to help pay for his household initiatives? i comprehend the position I stay, Florida, no longer in undemanding words do they throw both adult males and females in reformatory for no longer paying infant help, in addition they eliminate their motive force's licenses in lots of cases. It doesn't make experience, yet i am going to also understand the anger those judges have at the same time as human beings refuse to take of their young ones. that is a "capture-22". :(
