I want to start playing bass so since I have never actually tried it out should I buy a not so exspensive bass first to try it out and see if I really like it so either way I go I don't waste my money? Cuz I know I really want to play so I don't think it would be wasting my money. But just buy cheaper for beginners? Where would I buy one walmart or somewhere a little more exspensive than that for begining? Thank you for helping....

lol, i hate to say it buy my first bass was a.... wait for it... first act... thats right... a wal*mart brand bass... but it did the job... i learned on it.... now im rocking out on an ibanez \m/... it would be smarter to buy a beginner kit, they usually come with a bass, amp, strap, bag, book, and some other things too to help you get started....

Buy a cheap one first. If you don't like it then your safe and if you do like playing bass then it will take you a lot of time before your good enough to actually crave and tell the difference between cheap and expensive guitars. Also cheap ones are excellent for practicing.

Go to a music store where you can actually play the bass you're considering buying before you actually buy it. This is important, because expensive doesn't alway mean quality.

Try your local music shops for used bass. Sometimes they play better than new ones. They tend to take on their own character.

buy an inexpensive bass first (they will be less expensive if you change your music path) you can always trade it in after one year for a better one if your playing and interests grow...good luck!
