At your age it isn't uncommon to miss a couple of periods for whatever reason. You may have the beginning of endometriosis (build up of tissue) or PCOS and have yet to develop the common side effects like hair growth. If you eat alot of junk with sugar you could be insulin intolerant and at the start of developing a fertility disorder. Junk food silently assaults your body.
Go to a gynecologist and have them run hormone screenings to make sure your body is producing the right chemicals. Some epilepsy drugs can cause you to not get your period. So can eating disorders and depression. Stress may be the culprit here but it's best to have it looked at.

There are a lot of reasons for a young woman's period to become abnormal...stress, poor eating habits, low percentage of body fat, fibroids or cysts... If you don't think it is stress then you should examine the rest...if your eating habits are poor AND you are particularly thin or workout quite a bit this could be the culprit. A woman's body fat can't go below about 15% without affecting her cycle. If this isn't it then I would get in for an annual exam so that you can be checked out for fibroids or cysts. If these are caught early they can be removed and dealt with...if they are let to go unchecked they can cause a lot of pain and can be a big problem if you do get pregnant...or they could cause you to not be able to get pregnant.

There are several possible reasons for your period to come irregularly. But in order to understand those possibilities one has to first understand the finer points of the female reproductive cycle. The cycle in terms of hormones consists of two phases, follicular and luteal, that are seperated by ovulation. The follicular phase occurs first and is the result of a hormone known as Follicle stimulating hormone. Essentially what is happening is that this hormone is stimulating your a few of your eggs to complete development in your ovaries. The follicular phase is very variable in terms of time. In a normal cycle this phase last 14 days. However, in a number of other people it can last 7 -21 days. This is one possible reason for an irregular period. Once the follicular phase is complete there is a spike in a hormone called Lutenizing hormone; this hormone is responsible for ovulation. Following ovulation is the luteal phase, which in studies has been found to be an exact 14 days in all females. The luteal phase is very tightly monitored by two hormones progesterone and estrogen. A decrease in this two hormones is what results in menstruation. A lot of females dont have a "regular" follicular phase which results in irregular periods. Now there are several factors that can influence this delicately balanced cycle that can result in irregular periods. Stress, being underweight, being overweight, unhealthy diet, exercising too much, STDs, polycystic ovarian syndrome, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. However, for the most part having irregular periods is normal. The best person to ask is your OB/GYN she has been specifically trained to answer any girly questions you might have accurately and professionally. I hope this answer helps you.

Menstruation can vary greatly in your 20's. I would not totally freak out. I am assuming you are not on any kind of pill that would regulate your cycles. Cycles can vary from weeks to months sometimes. Check what your eating and also your water intake. Excercise is also important. Your body is in the process of getting all cylinders ready to fire and someday run like a smooth engine. Don't be discouraged especially about sexual satisfaction. It is going to take the next 10 to 15 years before you really feel like your up and running. Have fun.

I wouldn't get to stressed about it..If you are not planning on a family right now and aren't having intercourse then I would just let it be..at such time that you want to avoid pregnancy then go to your doctor and get a good exam and talk with them about birth control options,,this will also help regulate your period...
