Snakes-can they really drink any liquid.It's a confusing question to me.

In many places the people offer milk to the snakes.If it's a poison they have to die ??
Will they drink water with their bifid tongue.

No, just a myth, they can drink water, but milk is not something they can find in nature as a liquid, so no way

Since milk is produced by mammals and snakes are reptiles, milk certainly isn't their natural beverage of choice. However, milk doesn't contain anything that would be toxic or harmful to any biological system, so I doubt it would kill or harm the snake; (The other issue to consider is whether snakes possess the enzyme lactase, which is responsible for the breakdown of lactose, a primary sugar found in milk. If they do not have this enzyme, they might be "lactose intolerant" and thus the milk might not be properly digested.) In the wild, however, snakes do eat just about any type of prey - so it's logical to assume that they have a very tolerant digestive system and thus probably can drink and eat various things.

No, snakes do not drink milk. They are forced to drink it. In India most os the people do not feed the snake before Nag Panchmi so that the snake drinks milk on that particular day to quench his/her thirst. The truth is that is the milk does not digest in the snakes body, it might even die.

yes they can drink milk but it is not their actual food. it is hard to snakes to digest the milk

No, I think that the only fluid they ingest is the fluid found to be within the poor defenseless creature that they are devouring such as the blood and urine...gross I can honestly say

ya.they drink milk.......but i think the main reason to offer milk is coz wen snakes drink it , their poision also comes out in the milk.......but em not sooo sure
