As a previous corporate employee I can tell you. Waffle House was originally a truck stop diner, built in Norcross, GA. It caters to travelers, and to gain as many customers as possible places stores wherever accessible by large amounts of traffic. If it's a busy interstate exit, there will be more than one located there. Waffle House has no problem stealing business from other restaurants and forcing their OWN restaurants to compete with eachother for business. The belief is that by conducting business in this manner it forces each individual unit to supply the best possible service at all times.

In a free market economy there is ultimately the number of waffle houses to supply the need. If not they will go out of business and then there will be four plus McDonald's. :)

LMAO!!! As a southerner and former WH employee, that question is downright hilarious. The reasoning for their placement would seem obvious.... they are making money and can afford to blow it with unprofitable locations. The more locations, the more chance of making money.

Because they only have single-hole bathrooms. :) If you got off the exit looking for a place to unload, and the one you go into is occupied, you can try across the street.
