I would look up resources from my favorite natural health doctor.
Michael Murray N.D. has written several books and I suspect you could find lots of recommendations from him online. I would expect that he would make some recommendations for a high level of certain nutrients orally for weeks or even months before the surgery and perhaps a different set of macro dose nutrients after the surgery along with some topical preparations. Also some secure support and bindings could help minimize scarring.
He wrote the Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine, and is affiliated with Bastyr University in Washington State.

If a plastic surgeon is doing the surgery, I would first suggest you ask him/her; don't know what to tell you concerning the supplements. You can use Mederma, which you can buy over the counter at walmart, walgreens, etc. Also, any cream that contains 4% hydroquonine will lighten scars, but it will take time; I think you can only get that percentage amount from a dermatologist, but I'm not sure.

mederma, or vitamin e...rub the oil in the scar, and massage the scar good too. it helps promote blood flow to the area better as well.
also if it's not been long since the surgery my doc advised me to massage triple antibiotic into scar to begin with.

I heard that aloe can help with reducing scarring, but I'm not sure. I think there are a few creams that are advertised as "scar-reducing," but I'm not sure of their quality....
Good luck!
