5'1? horses are measured in hands so 5'1 doesn't mean much. Measured where? Back or head? (BIG difference). Jumping is only part of it. The 3day horse must be an ATHLETE. He must be elegant enough for dressage, bold enough to go over whatever is in front of him clean and fit enough to gallop cross country over obstacles and not falter. I've handled some that were 16 hands but most are taller due to the jumping...but there is much needed for the other events too - it's not JUST jumping and I wouldn't say that is the main part really. If they can jump but aren't controllable for dressage and run off course and refuse jumps in cross country they'll never make an eventing horse.

You must mean feet. I think you'd end up with a miniature horse if the horse was 5 hands high.

Let's see...5'1 ft would make the horse about 15 hands, right? That's a good size, but English style riding usually requires a more taller horse.

depends on how high he will be jumping. he seems a little small, but if he is able to do it and loves to jump go for it. just put your horse before the glory. if you have doubts that he can do it, or you are worried of him getting hurt, don't risk it. i have seen many people put themselves before their horse, and half the time the horse winds up hurt. they will do anything to win, even if it means putting their horse's life on the line. he seems a little small, and if he can't do it don't push him. just enjoy riding him and have fun!!

seems a little small, but of course anything is possible especially with a horse that has the right attitude.
