I played 7-a side tournament and my advice would be play a formation that suits your team strengths, if you have 2 good strikers + 2 average defenders then put an extra defender in the back and drop your second best striker to mid-field playing a 1-1-3 formation in other words 1 forward+ 1 mid-field+ 3 defenders+ goalkeeper= 6 players, you can adopt this system to your strong points and strenght'en your weak points, identify both weak+ strong put it down on paper and now apply your best formation possible. I hope this will help you in choosing your strongest team ,good luck DKENGJW!!!

Depends on the size of the field too, and whether it's wide or not. You'll also have to consider the strengths of individual players, as well as the team as a whole.

Note that there's no such thing as a "best formation" in general, so you'll have to work out a workable formation with your teammates.

Personally I've never played a six-a-side before, but I've had several in seven-a-side. Basically we were strong defensively but rather weak up front. The pitch was quite longish so the wings were out of question. We employed a 2-2-2 formation, with one sweeper. It worked quite well cos we had the numbers up front, and I was the sweeper so nothing got past me =)

Yea, so you have to play to the strengths of your side. If you've got pacy players and the pitch is wide, don't hesitate to employ the flanks as part of your strategy! And always remember to stick to your formation. There's always the tendency for defensive players to move up, so if you have to, shout to your teammates to maintain a rigid formation.

interesting i have played seven-a-side soccer fro many years but never six-a-side. about formations. well in my team of which i am the captain we got with three up front one in the middle and two at the back. it all depend where your strengths are. 2-1-2 woudl be good but if you need more help in attack or defence then you would make it 3-2 or 2-3. main thing isthough because it is such a small feild make sure every one cames back in defence and then pushes up on attack
hope this helps

Get more aerial assaults and maneuvers in a six sided ring ... THe TNA trainer's ring is too damn small to anything cool... I don't know why the original TNA wrestlers have to be punished, all because old geezers like Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan are too old to maneuver around in a six sided ring ..
