I think England are guaranteed to play either Ecuador or Germany in the next round. If Germany win their group and England are runners-up then maybe it is fair that England should play such tough opponents in the next round. However, if England win their group and Germany finish runners-up, I (as an England fan) would fell upset that, despite winning our group, we get a hard 2nd round match.
If England do play Germany in the next round, then my fellow English people shouldn't whinge about it (despite whinging being seen as a very English (thus patriotic) think to do), because it is just about impossible for anyone to win the World Cup without, somewhere along the line, facing tough opponents.

If they win group B, which now seems likely they will play the runner-up from group A which will be either Germany or Ecuador, as these two teams are tied on 6 points each in group A after two matches.
Should England lose to Sweden on Tuesday then they will finish up as runners up in Group B and will then play the winner of Group A, which will be Germany or Ecuador.
As things stand at present Ecuador only need to draw in their final game to win their group as they have the greater goal difference so theoretically they have the better chance of winning the group. However in my opinion Germany will beat Ecuador.
So if I was betting on England's opponents in the last 16 it would be Ecuador

If England win the group, they will play the second place in the Group containing Germany and Ecuador. Germany need to win the game against Ecuador to top the group, a draw is not good enough. As a England fan, happy to play Germany in the last 16 if needed.
