Well I've been to the States and it was a beautiful place to visit and the people I met were wonderful, friendly and really interested in Australia. There will be horrible, unlikeable people in all countries all over the world. But as for Leaders looking up to America I think it's more along the lines that America have taken action to make themselves so powerful that Leaders really do not have a choice but to follow or face Bush putting sanctions on their country. He has done a lot and I mean a lot of damage Internationally and is not well respected. As for the people or me personally as an Aussie I don't have any problems with the general population of the USA, however I do feel sometimes that some get carried away with the importance of the country and often feel the US is the only one that supports other countries and assist with aid and things like that. I see the people as people, no different to those anywhere else. I have respect but do not look up to the US as a mentor or guru or like a child looks up to an adult for leadership or guidance if you know what I mean. I'm not dumping, I have great friends and acquaintances over there, I'm just giving an opinion.

We Australians think that most Americans are self centred and egotistical
Although I must admit I like the way your service men call me Ma'am.
Americans seem to have a pre-occupation with always being the best, we just like to play the game.
I am not really sure that the leaders of these countries do look up to Am,ericans...I think it is more than likely that they feel connected - rather like family. After all we did all originally come from the one country.
English people have the history and the longevity so there is no way they are looking up to any one

I hope not , that is a lot of responsibility for any one , much less a country , that has made as many mistakes as we have over the years . Each country should be respected for their own attributes . They are all wonderful country's with great people . One is not better then the other .

No, the Australians do not. America is neither superior or inferior.
