That is a great question.
I think, first thing you should do next time you get bored is- answer crucial burning question of your life- why do you get bored in the first place. Let's look at the problem from scientific point of view. Well.. OK, there is not science of boredom, we will just borrow some methodology. How about that?
Being bored bacically means that you have nothing to do, or, you have no desire to do anything, or you feel that you "can't fint" anything to do, or you are too tired to do anything, nothing seams fun to do, you already have done everything you could think of, I want to do something but I don't know what, or I don't want to do anything- I am perpetually, eturnally, fatally, insainally, mindbugglinly, eye popingly, belly bulgingly, headblowingly borred!!! Aaaaa-aaaaa-aaaa!!!!!!
OK, while you are screaming your guts out, I will work come up with couple of solutions for you.
First! Let's look at the simptoms of your boredom again. You can devide it in two categories. One- I don't want to do anything, I don't feel well, nothing is fun to do anymore. Following this pass of self exploration , you might come up to the startling discovery- you are.... depressed. Then next step to find solution will be knock on the door of your favorite doctor, share with him all the troubles and let him worry about it. Perhaps in a couple of weeks you will feel much better and new spark will find you.
Second- I don't know what to do, I have done everything already, There is nothing to do, etc.. etc... This is surprisingly much harder to fix. Because it has something to do with your level of excitement and exploration, your creativity and umbition, your desire to learn, or desire to perform... some kind of strong positive emotion that would drive you and motivate you to lift your well grounded, rutted, glued, cemented sitting stumb from the "lazy-boy" and spring in to action. So, the bottom line is not finding out what to do, but- to figuring out why will you be doing what you are going to be doing.... A bit twisted, .. hm... but it really works.
Creative people usually always busy because they always have next project they need to finish. But what if you are not that "creative" think of what is it that you are absolutelly can not leave without if you didn't do today- even if it is just a practical joke for your boss, or sending your X -UPS box of popedcorn size of the grand piano.

You can actually watch a movie, play games, hang out at the mall, hang with friends, or go to the pc/tv.
