Country music has changed a lot lately.
A lot of the music that's on the up to date "hip" country radio stations today sounds like the rock-n-roll of the 80's (my era)...LOL. Why did we listen to rock-n-roll back then? Well, probably for some of the same reasons we are listening to country music now. Here are a few:

The VOCALS in country today are really slick, tight and altogether righteous.
Little Big Town: "Boondocks"
Brian McComas: "99.9% Sure"
Diamond Rio: "Imagine That"

The MUSIC itself is a real workout as well. Listen closely to some of the guitar work in today's country...WOW...smokin' stuff.
Kenny Chesney: "Livin' in Fast Forward"
Toby Keith: "Who's Your Daddy"
Gretchen Wilson: "All Jacked Up"
Montgomery Gentry: "Hillbilly Shoes"

The STORY is good in most country songs. I think that's what makes country so popular (among country fans).
The Dixie Chicks: "Goodbye Earl"
Toby Keith: "I Ain't As Good As I Once Was"
Blake Shelton: "Playboys Of The Southwestern World"
Shooter Jennings: "4th of July"
Tracy Byrd: "Watermelon Crawl"

If you like music that's put together really well, you're bound to find a favorite in one of these.

There are many different reasons for listening to country music. Once you really start LISTENING to country music (especially today's country music), you may discover a few of your own reasons.

Because country music is about real life, and because country music has the greatest fans, and the singers know it and show their appreciation by meeting the fans and putting on great concerts (go to CMAFEST.COM and you'll see why)!

If you give it a chance, you will like some of it. Country music is real. Its about real life happenings. Give it a chance and you will see what I as well as some others mean.

I'm from Nashville... If you don't like it, don't listen to it. I don't. In most cases the artist didn't even write the song but they look better in front of a camera and have a more "production-friendly" voice. So I'd say don't if you don't like it.

Yahoo thinks four letter words are offensive, I think we should censor all country music and any references to it. I find it more offensive than anything else. Well except sex-offenders.

It's all in the lyrics! If you listen to the words they can really relate to people and their lives.

you dont need people to tell you why you should listen to country. well you dont need people to tell you why you should listen to any type of music. you should decide by yourself which types of music you would like to listen to. if ya want to listen to country, then listen to country. if ya want to listen to rap, listen to rap, if ya want to listen to rock, listen to rock. ect...everyone has different tastes in music and you shouldn't listen to us if we tell ya if u should listen to country music, or any other genre of music, or not.
personality i like all types of music. it doesn't matter what people think of the music i listen to. but i dont care. i listen to what i want
