You cab check out meetup.com to see what SAHM are meeting in your area. Also, MOPS International has meetings in lots of places. So does Mothers and More. I would try out a few moms groups, because they all aren't the same. Some focus on moms, some on the kids, some on both.

Get involved with the kids' lives. If they play outside, hang out with them. In our neighborhood, the moms gather in the evenings on a swing to talk and still be within sight of the kids. Any activity they do is likely to also involve their parents. You may only make aquaintances but more than likely you'll find at least one other mother to be a close friend.

Going to Church, to the park with the kids, going to the civic meetings in your sub-division, are a few suggestions. Having a homecoming for your new house and invite your neighbors by leaving invitations in their mailboxes would be a good method. Otherwise, start yourself a hobby that you can put your all into not to be bored.

Thats a good question. I moved to a new state all alone I didn't have any friends. I eventually met a boyfriend I had him as comfort. I was right back alone 3 yrs later after we broke up.
All I can say is your better off by yourself than to become friends with someone that at the end of the day you will regret you ever met them. Find you some people that already has their life together, has their own car, and not a bunch of stressful crap going on with them. That was one of my biggest problems I had all these people wanting to be friends with me that didn't have s h i t. If they weren't asking for a ride, they were some drunks and pot smoking low lifes. I told myself I'd rather be alone that to deal with that kind of crap.

I just moved to california last year and I found my new community has an awesome Mother's Club. A great way for mom's and kids to make friends and such. Maybe you have one in your community. I have met some moms a kindergym classes and the playground, but the mother's club has been the best.
