No, You haven't ruined your dreams...

You have embarked on a new and special journey,

Motherhood.

You will see many wonderful things and they will be through the eyes of your children.

You will find no greater happiness or fulfillment than watching your child take his first steps, read his first book, sing you his first song.

You've been blessed with the greatest treasures in the world. Enjoy them.

You will have just a short time and they will be grown.

The outside world will still be there.

Just modify your dream a bit. Travel with your children. Go places where your kids will have something to do, maybe with a daycare type thing, and find time to explore yourself. Or, like you said, wait a little while. Hey, that way you could save more money and go somewhere even better!

You can still travel and explore. It will just take longer than you originally thought. Having kids doesn't mean your plans are ruined, it just means they will be on hiatus and that you have to work around the kids to do it. Who better to take with you on your wonderful journey than your kids?

My wife and I have travelled extensivelly with our children. It is a joy to rediscover the world through the eyes of a 5 year-old child.

Who says you can't do both? Sounds like you are only limiting yourself. Why not take the kids? They might just help you find yourself, if that is what you meant. If you look at your kids as only a stumbling block, Lord help them.

Well that is why there is birth control. I mean we all know how babies are made. Just stop feeling sorry for yourself? You can still do all that stuff just not now, the grass always looks greener.
