The creator of The Simpsons is Matt Groening. He originally started making comics with his "Life In Hell" comics. These comics were spotted by a producer James L. Brooks, who contacted him to do animated shorts on "The Tracey Ullman Show". He was opposed to use his "Life In Hell" comics, so rumor has it he created the look of the simpsons in 15 minutes. The shorts began airing in 1987 and it became it's own show in 1989.

he named the characters based on his family.
magret was his wife but he named her marge to make it more funny.
