Probably not. It would be considered so Un-PC today.
Another movie I loved as a kid on Disney that will probably never be released onto DVD is "Dr. Syn, the Scarecrow". If you've never heard of this movie, it starred Patrick MacGoohan as an American during Revolutionary War days, who goes around with a gong of guys on horses and fights the British guerrilla style. The masks they wore to look like scarecrows were the creepiest damn things Ive ever seen. I worte to the Disney peeps about releasing this and got a very terse reply, "At this time there are no plans to release this movie".

Probably not--the movie has lots of social issues that wouldn't make it very popular if released today. Which is strange, because the 'bluebird on my shoulder' song is kind of embedded in our culture, but the source material for it is no longer available.
The Brer Rabbit stories, however, predate Song of the South, so you can find those eaily enough if you want to read of his adventures.

If you believe the folks at songofthesouth.net, it appears that it might actually get a release this year. (Check out http://www.songofthesouth.net/faq/index.html.) That said, such a release will undoubtedly be a PR nightmare for Disney and therefore may scare them off.
That said, be aware that there IS a legit Japanese laserdisc version of the film that is a great resource. Worth finding.

I actually did a survey thing in the mall about it. Disney is trying to decide whether or not to release to DVD. The questions were all about whether I found it offensive, whether it was appropriate for children to watch, and if I would buy it. If they decide to do it, you'll most likely see it within the next year is my bet.

Probably not. Disney pulled it to be politically correct because of the negative racism and slavery depicted in the film. It is still available in Europe so you may be able to get a copy via ebay or something similar.

At a flea market a couple of years ago, some guy was selling copies on DVD that he got from supplier with connections to Europe. He sold out quickly.

I sure hope so, I watched it many times when I was young. I asked the other day and someone told me it was politically incorrect and that is why they won't release it.

Nope, it is considered discriminating to African Americans and Disney decided in lieu of being sued, they would not release it.
