I think the Creative Zen Microphoto and the Creative Zen Vision M are two of the best MP3 players on the market today.

They are highly rated by C|Net and other sources. Both won MP3 player of the year for the Consumer Electronics Show in 2005 and 2006.

Both are really easy to use. My wife has the Microphoto and I have the Zen Vision M.

Both offer you many more legal choices for downloadable music than you can get with an iPod. For iPod, you are limited to iTunes 99 cents a song with album discounts, Rhapsody, eMusic.

With PlaysForSure compatible MP3 players such as these two Creative Zen players, you can download music from Yahoo, Rhapsody, Napster, Walmart, MSN, eMusic, and many other sources with songs as little as 79cents or 88cents a song.

Better yet, these two players work with subscription music services which let you rent all the music you can fit onto your player and more for as little as $10 a month with a pre-paid year subscription. So, I have over 1000 songs I downloaded onto both Zens and that comes out to a penny a song a month.

I've loaded up the Zen Vision M with music, audio books from Audible.com, and videos I've downloaded from Yahoo Video, Brickfilms.com, and other sources so my son can have something to watch on the plane.

And, I think, and some reviewers think that the Creative Zen Vision M has a better color display than the iPod and longer battery playtime than an iPod 30GB video player.

As soon as the new TiVo Series 3 comes out, I plan on using TiVoToGo to transfer television shows to the Zen Vision M. (My old TiVo Series 1 doesn't support TiVoToGo.)

This just in. Creative just announced the new Zen V and V plus flash-based MP3 players which support video and line-in jack recording and 15 hours of battery life.

Personally, I like the lower end creative players for several reasons:

First, they're under $100
Second, they run off of plain old AAA batteries, so I don't have to worry about charging. (recahrgable AAAs are cheap too!!!)
Third, they play just about anything and many also do radio.

Pay only $100 and buy some nice jewlery for your lady with the money you saved by not buying the trendy and overpriced ipods
