I have recently moved to a neighborhood that is very open and accepting of all lifestyles, which I like immensely as I am very open and tolerant of others myself.
However, I always have the feeling that I am doing/saying something wrong whenever I am around Lesbians (who are completely open about their lifestyle).
I would like to be much more comfortable in this environment, so if there are any Lesbioans out there that might be able to shed some light on this I would appreciate it.

I agree with the first answer. Just treat us like you would any of your other friends! Trust me, if you do/say anything to make your new friends uncomfortable, they'll tell you. I think it's very sweet that you are this concerned, but I also think you're making a mountain out of a molehill. We're just people, so treat us with respect and friendship and you can't really screw anything up. Good luck! :)

I have male friends that are very cool, I haveme tothers that are not. I think the big difference is intention. If you are intending on just befriending them, just act like you normally would around anyone, gay or straight. Do not make jokes about them "not finding the right man". and don't hit on either one of em. Don't make remarks about watching them... etc etc. I mean treat them like you would treat your best friend and his wife...with dignity and respect, especially when you are just getting to know someone. After you have been friends for awhile, the joking may loosen up to include some of those things, but just remember, it's only a joke lol.

Most lesbians think that men are idiots. They also realize that many men fantasis about being with two lesbians. In light of that, just don't act like you are intimidated by them, don't act afraid and don't act like a pompus ***. Don't put across that you are sexually attracted to them. Basically, just be normal. Some lesbians dislike ANY men, no matter how cool they are. I have tons of gay men friends and even they say they dislike certain lesbian groups becuase of this. Some of them are very predjudice against anyone not a lesbian.

I suggest you act as normal as possible, maybe even to the point of ignoring that they are lesbians. And act politely. My partner and I have many friends both gay and straight, and things may be different where you live but here in Wisconsin, I think everyone's casual enough to interact normally. Casual, is the best approach. Like, if you see them working on their car, conversationally ask them what's wrong, but don't immediately ask to help, even if you're a mechanic. I commend you for your efforts to not to be irritating to them. And if your efforts are honest, these should win them tolerance. If it doesn't, I would think less of them as humans, but unfortunately you find unsavory people in every group/culture/race. Good luck.

Be like you are with normal women and men. Lesbians dont get treated any differently. The only thing is if you are a dude you can check out chicks with them.

1. do NOT stare at your lesbians friends when they are engaged in an intimate moment with their partners. do you stare at your straight friends when they are engaged in an intimate moment? we really do not appreciate being treated like porno actresses with the sole purpose of fulfilling your deepest lesbian fantasies, we get enough of it from enough jerks already
2. do NOT make any stupid u-haul jokes or any other lesbian jokes, its ok for us lesbians to make lesbian jokes but not cool for a straight guy to do it. unless your lesbian friends are very comfortable with you making those jokes ,do NOT do that.
3. do NOT at any rate preach to your lesbian friends (i doubt you'll do this since you say that you are pretty acceptant of all types of lifestyles,but its still a word of reminder) we get enough of it from christian reparative group who tell us that we are going to hell, so as far as we are concerned anyone who touches this topic is a foe and not a friend.

make LOTS of sloppy licking motions with your tongue when one of them looks at you and everyone else is paying attention to something else and then act innocent and ignorant, and say something like... hey, if i'm too much of a man for you ladies to handle...

I would just be yourself. If they like you, they like you. If not don't sweat it. It's best to just be genuine an not try to act differently
