LotteryWest are the primary granters for non-profit organisations in my community. Otherwise call your local municipal government representative and ask them your question. Your grant will likely be linked to your YMCA for the purpose of community youth entertainment.

I would first invest about $200-$400 to form a non-profit corporation. Now you have a legal entity to do as you want. This also will take liability off you as you will need insurance to open such a facility.

Now you need to form a board of governors/directors or whatever you want to call them. I would contact my city counsel person, minister of your church get input from them, ask if they will serve a year on your board. This will give you immediate legitimacy. Find other city leaders that want to serve on your board. Now you want to find out the ways to get grants from the various government agencies.

HUD will allow certain buildings to be used by non-profits for little or nothing, contact a HUD real estate agent about those buildings and find one in your city. You may go to the HUD link at

I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.
