It would have helped if you had been a little more specific in what you ment by not expensive and by good. Also what you would like to do with it. The responder that mentioned Mead and Celestron gave you good advice.

Celestron has quite a few models to choose from including spotting scopes and astronomical scopes. The least expensive good spotting scope about $200. That would be the Ultima 80. Not a bad scope. Great for bird watching and that sort of thing.

Their astronomical telescopes are a little more expensive, for the good ones.

Two good makers of telescopes are Meade and Celestron, among many others. They aren't the cheapest however; frankly you don't want to buy a really cheap one, as it will just cause you to get frustrated because all you'll be able to see is the moon.

If you are on a budget, I'd check the online sites of some of the major department stores. Even walmart sells a couple of telescopes. Also you can go to a search engine and google telescopes; you'll get a ton of sites that sell them, both new and used. Of course, you can always try ebay...they will have new and used ones... but bear in mind that with a lot of ebay sellers, you are buying it "as is" more often than not....but do you have a chance to buy one at a below retail price. You can always check them out to see what's available.

Hope this helped a little.
