If they are ur records they are technically ur property...soooo u should be able to go there w/ a picture I.D. and tell them you need ur records...for some reason nowadays they do make u pay a fee (i got my husbands records and it didnt have the length of 13 surgerys and it was like $20.) There should be no problem..Dont give up u tell em whats what if they think they can just say tuff **** then they will walk all over you.

I'm not too familiar with Philadelphia hospital records, If they aren't on site then check with the hospital director or medical records department to see how you can obtain copies of your records that has been possibly microfiche or microfilmed. The hospital can copy what you need for maybe a small fee with proper ID and a release form.

If you are the person who had the surgeries, or are the legal guardian of same, or have Power of Attorney for that person you have the legal right to request the records. Contact the Medical Records Director at the hospital and explain the situation.

First, newly passed laws no longer require records to be kept past 7 years, so there's a very good chance that many of the records you're looking for no longer exist.
Second, due to new HIPPA laws it's illegal to give out these records unless you are the legal guardian, POA, or patient. You would have to go through a request from the medical facility. To request as you have online is not permissable.

Call the hospital and ask for the medical records department. They can tell you the process for obtaining your medical records. Generally they have you sign a release and it take a 4-5 business days for them to copy your records to give to you. It is your legal right to have a copy of your medical record.

I believe that they have to keep these records somewhere. It used to be that they kept a hard copy for X years, then microfilmed them. You should be able to submit a written request for your records from the Medical Records department of the hospital and, as someone has already said, they will probably have a fee to get the copies.

Why don't you call the records office for the hospital? Or walk into the records department and ask for them? They would be the ones to guide you on obtaining what you need. Medical records can't just disappear.

Medical records will take your request (with proper I.D.) for your medical records for a nominal fee.

There is a department that you'd call for that at that hospital. They'll probably charge a fee.
