Because people don't like to take responsibility for their actions. And also it is an extremely rare quality of character to have to be able to say "I was mistaken." John Kerry has the backbone to say, "I made a mistake". That requires character. Instead of being able to appreciate that these people went on to call him flip-flopper, as if they never made a mistake in their life. But anyways, as I was saying these people don't like the idea that the government is not benevolent and is not looking after them. Because saying that comes with a lot of responsibility. When you say we don't want King George (irony!) as our king, you have to fight a war of independence and draft your own constitution. Now thats an enormous responsibility. The founding fathers weren't afraid of that responsibility so they went ahead and did what they had to do. The people you are talking about lack the intelligence, courage or moral backbone to do that. Instead they dig their heads in the sand and pretend the government is good and will always take care of them. And since there wasn't enough sand in America to cover all their heads, they had to go to Iraq to find more sand. And hence anyone who disturbs that fake sense of stability and peace seems to be an enemy to them. And they start crying "unpatriotic" and etc.
These people think patriotism is limited to supporting the war and supporting the president. They don't see patriotism in helping the poor and needy who are also fellow Americans. They don't see patriotism in uplifting the downtrodden who are also American. They don't see patriotism is envigorating the economy or creating new jobs for their fellow Americans. They don't see patriotism is protecting their environment although that is the American environment. Their sense of patriotism is myopic indeed.

This is an easy one, the Republicans primarily the neoconservatives, such as the Micheal Savages, Limbaughs, and the Hannitys all support the war hardcore. This is because either, they really believe that what we are doing over there is for a truly good cause or they just parrot what Pres. Bush says. And by labeling somebody that realizes that we were partially lied into a war with someone who did nothing to us, an "unamerican" then they can automatically rally their base against the democrats. This is an election year and so they have realized that they have done nothing right in the last, 5 and 1/2 years, so the only way they can get votes is, not by showing the american people how well they lead, but rather by demonizing their opponents. All I know is that it really makes me sick. They make it seem as if just because a person has a differing opinion that doesn't totally agree with Bush then they automatically hate the united states.

Thats the big myth. No one calls anyone that "questions" the war or Bush anti-american. The democrats have twisted the issue of war into that little game they play. It's the same as the democrats calling you racist if you think that may affirmitive action isnt such a hot idea. Or, If you think that anyone here in the country illegally should face some consequences.
There are people out there that really do hate America. Not only for the success we have had as a country, but also because Americans as a whole are usually the first ones to stand up to evil in the world. Check out the United Nations sometimes....read some of the recorded speeches by the little despot tinhorn dictators from these third world countries. On one hand they stand there and talk about how bad the US is in trying to push our democratic policy agenda on their countries. On the other hand they complain that the Imperialistic US needs to give them more financial aid.
I love to debate the war with people who think that being in Iraq is a bad thing. I dont think they are un-american. I just think they are concerned citizens. However, when someone starts spouting off about how bad the US is in everything it does or says or stands for...well then I have a problem. I just wish one of these people would tell me what the hell they are doing here if its soooooooo bad!!!

No nothing wrong with questioning Bush about the war on terror.Or immigration or anything else. And he has given many speeches giving his reasons why we are in Iraq. But what I don't like are politicians who when shown the same intelligence reports agreed almost unanimously that we needed to take Saddam out then later say he lied us into war. That's what I call unAmerican.

How come anyone who supports President Bush or the war is automatically labeled a liar or a Nazi?
Two can play the word games.
P.S. John Kerry is a wishy-washy clown. Notice how the Dems are starting to back away from both him and Jack Murtha. I love it!!!

It's not that people question the war, it's the way they do it that makes people label them unamerican. The far left say he is a liar and a criminal, and we went in for the wrong reason, blah, blah, blah. All of which is not true. There is nothing wrong with questioning authority if it's done properly.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger." - Hermann Goering (Nazi)

Yea that's wrong. Its mainly angry conservatives that call you unAmerican if you go against their "choice" president. Personally I enjoy hearing opinions of others even if they don't agree with me I don't force my opinion on them or judge them. Everybody has the right to choose. Its not mandatory to think like the "majority."

Because the fact that we think about issues, and the majority of them follow the leader, to them it is unAmerican.
