They outlawed common-law marriage in GA years ago. It used to be six months, though.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, Georgia stopped recognizing new common law marriages in 1997.

Last I had heard common law marriages were out in Georgia but before I heard that it was 10 years. Southern Regional Hosp. gave me my sons last name on his birth certificate saying that we ( his father and I ) lived together for 5 years and if I wanted it changed I had to dispute it at the main office on Spring St. I just think everyone in that camp is crazy! That was 2004.

ga. dont reconaze common law marrage as well many states other that. ga. dont either i know .w.va dont as well

in georgia they took it away you have to have the papers in order to be married
