genetics, environmental, bad luck.... pick one, their interchangeable sadly. Only testing and the KIND of Cyst that it is and what its made from can tell you much more. Sometimes they can tell you everything. So be sure and find out. Is it Fibrous or made from other kinds of material. SEE A DR. But whatever, its not her fault and I hope she's well in no time, good luck!!!!

If its in the groin area it can be anything from an ingrown hair, the rubbing of the elastic in her underwear to basic genetics. Not contageous no different from a zit. She needs to let it heal and clear up...Might want to suggest that she a Doctor as it may be infected and antibiotics required

It is just something her body produced. I don't think anyone can catch a cyst.

I had one once, it was on my back. the doctor said that it just happens. She said it could be from an ingrown hair (most likely) but it could be from genetics or just showed up with out an answer. They just happen. I almost had to have surgery on mine, but they just sucked it out with a tube vacuum and I was fine. I know gross!!! But it's life.

it may even just be an ingrown hair... they can get extremely swollen and possibly get a white head on them (like a zit). they can be painful and itchy, but you can usually zap them a way in a couple days if you swab it with some peroxide.
