men get mad, beat each other up, and usually after that, they're pretty ok. women get mad at each other, and it can be a love/hate on/off relationship for the rest of time. or, that hatred is carried on forever.

Everyone is different of course. I personaly think MOST men get mad and throw their weight around, while MOST women get mad and figure out a way to win the argument or get what they want in the end.

Check out Men Are From Mars Women Are From Venus. If I remember correctly, the author's theory is that when women are upset, they like to talk it out (vent), and when men are upset, they enjoy private time in order to think about their problems and find a solution. His belief is that these differences in problem solving needs leads to major conflict in communication. IE - durning a problem where a women is upset, she attempts to vent to her husband, and he tries to "solve" while she's just looking to talk. OR when a man comes to his wife, he's looking for a solution while she tries to make him "feel". Also check out work by Tanen if you're interested in communication differences

there is not a specific difference between men and women... each individual is difference. The stereotypes are that men sulk, pout and refuse to talk, while women get mad, yell and throw things.
