Education~
Job training and education are vitally important to welfare
recipients and other low-skilled workers in achieving longterm
economic stability. Recent research consistently finds
that a majority of “welfare leavers” get jobs with low-wages
and no benefits (Loprest 2001; U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services 2001; Richer et al. 2001), suggesting
that more concerted efforts are needed to help low-wage
workers become self-sufficient. Numerous studies show
that job training and education increase welfare recipients’
ability to achieve long-term self-sufficiency.

I think the key to fighting poverty is a combination of access to education, access to quality jobs and a community of people that are willing to support each other with resources such as child care, emotional support, transportation, food etc...

all of these is wrong. poverty is a way of thinking. it is a mind set that is hard to break. people learning their self worth and the self worth of others learning to be honorable people working hard and not looking for the "easy" way out. think of the examples I have heard of people build nice condos for the projects with a month the new condos are just as ragged as the other projects? why they take no pride in it and also they know it aint theirs so why care for it? sure there needs to be assistance and education given but opportunity is for us all this country is full of opportunities but people don't wont to take them and want to blame the "Man" for their own lack of initiative and laziness. empowerment. you can give a man a fish to eat that feeds him once but teach him how to fish and he can feed himself.

There are two things regarding this matter, one that u are trying ask is that "how to reduce poverty" and the other which is "how to become immune to poverty"? too very different things.
reduce poverty = make everyone around enter into limit of financial frontier to say it more clearly, ppl around you should be in set of financial limits so you dont find significant difference between your financial life and their financial life. this limit is different different ppl b/c different ppl have different opinions.
to reduce those differences both sides have to come close to one another because our world doesnt have unlimited resourses. so rich have become poor and poor have to become rich.
being in world of communism where ppl have no desires except one desire which is god-realization.

I think that most people agree the answer isn't guns, crack, or disease. That's of course assuming that the cure for poverty isn't death. Can we have an economy without poverty? Can we have life without economy? Can we have life without death? Maybe the cure for every one of life's ills is death itself.
