I live in Sri Lanka. It's in the southeast of India. It's near equator. The sound of my computer fan is very loud and annoying. I tried to open the case but still doesn't reduce the noise. I have 2 fans inside. I tried to stop the fan, but it freezes the computer. My system is Windows xp x64, and I have P4. When I play music, I can't hear it 'cause of the fan. Somebody help me.

Buy a WATER COOLING SYSTEM. it is silent and will fix your problem... or go the cheap route and buy new fans.

Well, as you found out, you definitely don't want to just stop the fans. That's bad, mmkay?

If you are lucky, this might fix it. As a fan gets dirty/clogged with dust, it can spin unevenly, and that makes a lot of noise. Get a can of compressed air, spray it around, and clean out the inside of your computer, particularly the fans. That isn't a bad idea no matter what, so probably worth the price of a can of air.

If that doesn't fix it, it may just be that you have noisy fans. You can buy fans (and disk drives and so on) that are specifically intended to be more quiet, if you have the ability to swap them in.

If your fans are clean and making that much noise I would try a fan with a larger diameter that rotates at a slower speed,it still moves the same amount of air.

If you know how to get in the case try buying a different type of fan at the locale PC store and swap it out or if too complicated find a trusted technician and ask him if he has a suggestion for a quieter fan to install for you

Move to the USA. Just kidding. Replace the fan that is loud. Or first go to the makers of the PC's website to see if there is utilility that controls the hardware for the cooling fans.

Clean the dust balls out using canned compressed air. If they are still noisy, reduce the voltage to the offending fan(s) from 12 volts to 7 volts.

Sad to say this you may need to purchase a new one. But first try cleaning it with a air cleaner. If it still makes lots of noise purchase one that says low or no noise and insert.

Good luck.
