U MUST MUSEUM!!
The Museum Campus is a scenic 57-acre lakefront park that connects three of Chicago's world-class institutions - the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, The Field Museum and the John G. Shedd Aquarium. The Campus unifies the three museums into a collective destination with more than four million visitors each year. The Museum Campus grounds feature terraced gardens, lush green spaces and broad walkways, which provide an easy and scenic route to the three museums. This setting allows the museums to extend their teaching outdoors, working with the Chicago Park District and the City of Chicago to provide educational and recreational programming that combines learning and fun.
Free trolley service between the three museums and surrounding parking lots is provided every day year-round. Museum Campus Chicago manages transportation and visitor service issues on behalf of the three museums as well as the programming and promotion of the park space.
Each museum has enjoyed increasing attendance thanks to the popularity of attractions such as the StarRider™ Theater at the Adler Planetarium, the Field Museum's Sue, the world's largest and most famous T.rex and Amazon Rising at the Shedd Aquarium. The Campus is a powerful vehicle, reaching millions of local, national and international visitors each year.
The Museum Campus is accessible by foot, bike, roller blades, taxi, water taxi, car and public transportation.

The Taste of Chicago
June 30 – July 9, 2006
The City of Chicago welcomes the 26th annual Taste of Chicago June 30 – July 9, 2006. Each day more than 60 local restaurateurs offer a delicious combination of ethnic items, family favorites, exotic and Chicago specialties feeding more than 3 million people in Grant Park, in downtown Chicago.
The festival features a Gourmet Dining Pavilion, musical entertainment on 3 stages, cooking demonstrations led by the city and country’s top chefs, a spectacular Independence Eve fireworks display and entertainment area just for kids.
Along with some of Chicago’s staple dishes, including ribs, cheesecake, Italian beef and pizza, participants can sample dishes from some of the city’s top gourmet restaurants. All daily restaurants offer a “Taste” portion, sold for 2-3 tickets, offering people a real “taste” of Chicago cuisine.
The Taste of Chicago is presented by Chicago’s Mayor’s Office of Special Events & U.S. Cellular. The festival runs daily June 30-July 9 beginning at 11 a.m. each day. Special hotel packages are available for those traveling to Chicago by calling 1-877-CHICAGO or visiting www.877chicago.com.

Go to the top of the John Hanckock building and look down. It's fascinating for kids. While you're in the neighborhood, go the the American Girl store on Chicago street. Navy Pier is also close by, and the shopping, rides, and just walking down to the end of the pier to watch the sailboats go by is fun and free. You can rent a bike big enough for the 3 of you to ride on at once and ride up and down the lakefront. Shedd Aquarium is really great. I'm not that big a fan of the Field Museum, as we call it "old stuffed dead things" museum. Museum of Science and Industry is a lot more interesting.
