If your flip flops are made of rubber, you may use bleach but make sure to use 1-2 capful of bleach to a gallon of water. It will turn yellowish if you use a huge amount of bleach.
Here's what to do:
-brush away dirt (using an old toothbrush) under running water
-measure 1-2 capful of bleach to a gallon of water in a huge container
-leave flip flops in bleach-water solution for 5-10 minutes (soles facing up)
-use soap/detergent/laundry soap to wash away the bleach solution
-rinse in water and dry with a clean cloth.

It depends on how much bleach you use, as bleach can "eat" through a lot of materials, weaken & damage them; even certain plastics. I don't think it will hurt the straps, as they are made out of pretty solid rubber, however, the sole part is a different story, as that is made out of porous sponge rubber. If you just want to sanitize them, then just use a little bleach mixed with hot water & an old toothbrush to scrub them. I sure wouldn't soak them or submerse them for any length of time.

Yes, Bleach may hurt your flip flops. If it is sanitation you want try a solution of peroxide and water. Taking a wet wash cloth to them if they are dirty, with or with out soap. Hope this helps.

No, it actually works best if you put bleach on your flip flops while you're still wearing them.
Who cares...they're like $3 at Target(the flip flops...not the feet.)

It may and may not depending on the material they are made out of. Also how strong the bleach is as concentrated bleach will hurt just about anything

If you use straight bleach or keep them soaking for a long time they may get damaged. I soak mine in soapy water and then use a scouring pad to scrub them (sponge with green scouring pad on the other side). They look so much better afterwards!!
