Ok, my old question stated

"Ok, I'm not sure but, I recently got a GeForce 6600 Video Card. In the begining I wanted to get a GeForce 6800, but the guy at the store told me that my PC will not be able to use it (or so he thought). So I had to get a 6600 one. Now, my question is, is there a website that can check my system and tell me if I can use the card that I'm looking for? Kind of like "Can I run this Game" thing on the Nvidia web site, only for video cards? If you know one, please give me the adress, and if possible, a straight like, not just the site name. Thanks a lot. "

Now, for some of you out there that would really like to help, I have an 775V88+/A/ASR Motherboard. On this website (http://www.asrockamerica.com/Products/775V88.htm) are all the things about it.Still, I just dont get it. I gess that my question is, will I be able to use a Nvidia 7800 Video Card on this PC? If not, Can anyone please tell me what isthe maximum card (From Nvidia) that I can use? Thank you

ok...with that motherboard you can run all AGP 8x video cards. all you have to do is go onto a site like http://www.newegg.com/ and do a power search for agp 8x video cards.

yes there are agp versions of all the 6800 series, but they have gone pretty rare now (not only hard to find, but even if you do find one, it is priced rediculously high).

the most powerful agp8x cards are the:

a) NVIDIA Geforce 7800 GS (note that it has to be GS, all other 7800's do not have an agp version, however, rumor has it that there will be a 7600 w/ an agp version also.)

b) ATI X850 XT Platinum Edition (VERY hard to find)

In terms of raw performance, the x850 performs better than the 7800 by a tad. but if you want your video card to last awhile, then i suggest you go w/ the 7800gs because it has dx shader model 3.0 support (which means you'll also be able to enable true HDR). the 7800gs also overclocks like crazy (manual increase of clock speed) and many companies (like evga or xfx) pre-overclock the card for you. at overclocked speeds, it should tie in performance w/ the x850.

but since you have a socket lga 775 motherboard, i suggest you just get a new motherboard that has a pci-express slot as many pci-express cards are cheaper than the agp ones.

It solely has to do with what your motherboard will support! I could look it up but I am sure you can read the requirements of the video card and compare it to what is in your system. Go to the nvidea website to find out any and all requirements for their products. You can use this link to easily find out what is in your system. it is free and contains no adware or spyware. Run it and it will tell you every detail you need.

your motherboard supports AGP vid cards, there are geforce 6600 and 6800 that say on the box or description agp, pci, pci-express. Newer vid cards usually will have agp and pci-express as an option.
