I have a lilac and tan (Lilac back, rich tan underbelly) mouse and a broken marked blue and white female. They just had a tiny litter of two. I have been doing a lot of reading on colors and such and lilac/tan seems to be a pretty rare color. Was I just extremely lucky? I would ask on a mouse forum but can't find any good ones.

They are fairly common, not as common as the albinos but still pretty common. They are really cute though, congratulations on your new pets.

If pet stores you've looked at don't have any, and from the sound of it, your lilac and tan mouse could indeed be rare. If that is the case, i'd breed her/him. Cool question!

Check with the Rat and Mouse Club of America www.rmca.org I think. They have a lot of info. Also www.afrma.org has a lot of info on mousies
